They Didn't Want to Pierce the Sun by Fryd Frydendahl and Jacob Birch

They didn’t want to pierce the sun came into being over the course of ten days in Texas during 2015. The book is a poetic manifestation of a conceptual framework where the graphic design unfolded concurrently with the act of the photographer. Thus creating a seamless transition between Frydendahl’s analogue photography and Birch’s graphic choices the work is a self-reflective act on the format of the photo book combining the ephemeral air of the digital era with the slowness of the analogue medium. They didn’t want to pierce the sun inserts a dreamlike vacuum in the modern mode of volatility as it mixes diluted symbols with astonishing scenarios wrapped in raw intimacy gesturing the viewer to interweave fragments of narratives between the photographic scenes.
