Discovery Girl is an imaginary women’s magazine made for the residents of a fantasy world. The zine consists of ads for cutlery, stair-cleaning services, and other questionable conveniences placed alongside an advice column, interviews with pop stars, and fragments of strange drama. It explores the women’s magazine as a format: a space where the intimate and the commercial coexist on the same glossy page. But instead of being inhabited by impossibly beautiful women, this universe is populated by furry animals, eccentric divas and curious reports on catastrophes. Part parody, part world-building exercise, Discovery Girl treats the magazine itself as a fictional universe.
