A YEAR IN REVIEW by Kate Saunders

A year in review
Solo exhibition and workshop by Kate Saunders

6th - 10th August 2025

PROGRAM:

- Opening: Wednesday 6th August, 5-8 pm

- Lino-printing workshop: Sunday 10th August, 1-6 pm

Amid the relentless flow of alarming news and doomscrolling fatigue, A Year in Review offers a moment of reflection on the past year. Each month of 2024, Saunders selected a mix of significant global and local news stories—both light and difficult—and transformed them into bold, tactile linoprints. Presented as a  series of 12 panels, the work invites viewers to revisit and process the year through a visual and material lens, offering coherence to the fragmented and overwhelming news cycle. Saunders’ work reflects on how we internalise and respond to the flow of information within today’s media landscape.

In the context of the exhibition, Saunders will give an open workshop on Sunday the 10th of August. Participants will be invited to contribute their own reflections to the calendar, documenting their own year by using pre-cut lino-stamps or by creating small prints themselves.

Kate Saunders (b. 1992) is a self-taught printmaker and artist, working primarily with relief printing from linoprinting to woodcut. Her work documents the interplay between urban and natural environments, seeking to capture both moments from everyday life and critical events. Alongside her artistic practice, she organises workshops, using printmaking as a dialogue tool towards exploring our relation to non-human species and biodiversity.
Her work has been shortlisted for the 2025 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in London.

The exhibition is supported by Nørrebro Lokaludvalg.
